Winning Wednesday
Today was one of the best days we have had weather wise! It was sunny all day and we got to spend a good amount of time outside today. We headed up to a local market after work and got to go souvenir shopping.
We all started the day by going to chapel. Cure has a common chapel every Wednesday. Every last Wednesday of the month they have cake and celebrate the employees who have had birthdays that month. We didn't find out until after work that it was Dr. Kieffer's birthday!! We celebrated by getting everyone in the guest house to sing "Happy Birthday". It wasn't much but it was all we had on short notice :)
Dr. Kieffer had to stay back at the guest house today because he has a big report due. He was working and heard really loud banging. When he went outside there were baboons on the roof running around. One even went inside of the van that was parked outside of the front door and hopped into the drivers seat! It happened right after he met us for tea so we didn't get to hear about it until later.
The ROCK team is doing better than expected as far as training goes. We all feel super confident in the system as well as the technicians. Our expectations have been blown out of the water.
The Clubfoot team got to make their own clubfoot braces today!! Bekah got to weld for the first time. She had maybe 30 seconds of training before he let her weld! #DontTellJohnMeyers !!
The market was really fun to go to after work. It was in walking distance from the guest house. We saw a bunch of people who work at the hospital and got to stop and talk to them.
After dinner we had devos. I forgot to mention that Dan highlighted Philippians 1 last night.
I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart and, whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me. God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.
Tonight I talked about Esther 4:14
For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
We decided to also take some group photos today just for fun :)
Here is the video for today!! Tomorrow is Kenya's independence day so we have the day off of work. We will be celebrating by taking a trip to a National Park as well as visiting Dr. and Mrs. Widmer's family!
